I hope I have this information correct but as I find out more tomorrow I will post the details. Charlie saw a doctor this afternoon and was told he has 2 major blockages in his heart so will undergo some procedures tomorrow. They intend to put in two stints and see if there is anything else going on with him. Keep him in your prayers as he goes through this on Tuesday morning. He has to be there at 8:00 but I don't know what time things will be done. I will post as I hear but if you hear something first, please post it!

I Just went up to check on Charlie and they still haven't taken him back it could be late this afternoon  They won't know if or how many stents he may need until they do the catheterization. I think the worst part for him is not be able to get up and move around and of course not being able to eat.  Thank goodness he had that stress test that found the problem before he had problems caused by the blockage.  Keep him in your thoughts and prayers this afternoon and evening.

This message was sent to me late this afternoon from the other Cindy....

At 3:45 I called to speak to Susan and Charlie answered the phone.  I was so……in hopes that all was over and he was answering to give me the good news.  WRONG……. He is still lying there waiting to go back into surgery.  He is very frustrated but is trying to be patient….he wants to get this over with. He said he was 6th in line and they had had an emergency during the day.   Susan and his mom are there with him.    I’m sure Charlie is glad that they have been there with him for company.

Please keep him and Susan in your prayers.

Finally Charlie was taken in for his turn. I hope I have this detail just right...
He had a heart cath and a stent was placed during the procedure. The balloon treatment was used in some
other arteries that fork out from the heart and hopefully they will stay open but he had some major blockages.
Susan said the doctors told him if he had been older he would have had to have open heart surgery but because
of his age he can make some serious lifestyle changes to help himself. He was still in recovery but will be put in a
room on the 4th floor and maybe can go home sometime tomorrow.  Keep him in your prayers and updates will follow
as we hear them.

I got to talk to Charlie!!  He sounds great and said he stayed awake during the Heart Cath and got to watch
almost all of it on a monitor. His doctor told him to get another nuclear stress test in a month and Charlie asked
if he could have a heart cath instead!!!  He is so funny. He hopes to go home later today but that is unconfirmed
at this point. More info as it comes available.

Hey Nancy, I just came back from seeing Charlie and he's his usual self, cutting up and going on.  His mom said he had a good breakfast (eggs, grits and a sausage link)  You know He's not going to skip a meal so he must be o.k. He said the doctor said he could probably be back on the bike in about 5 days.  Can't drive or lift for a few days.  And of course diet and exercise are going to be important in his recovery.  He's lucky to have all of the TR group who will be watching over him to make him comply with Doctors orders and I'm sure Susan will feed him plenty of salads.

Well Charlie did get to come home from the hospital on Wednesday and word around town is he had lunch at
Classic Cafe with his mom. It is fun to be in a small town where people keep you informed.  I didn't get to talk
to him today but will try to get an update tomorrow.

Talked to Charlie just a little while ago and he sounds so good. He said he feels good and only has a little
tenderness where they went into the groin area. The hole is only about the size of an IV hole. I sure would
have thought it would be more than that but am glad it is not. He watched on the monitor and could see inside
his own heart, watching as they put in the stent and the balloon angioplasty procedure. His biggest complaint...
He had a hard time getting the bandage off last night. He said it was stuck on real good.

It is so amazing what can be done now.
