With some extra time today I took advantage and sat on my back porch watching the birds. There were so many different ones flitting around and several that appeared to be families. There were two different groups of the Tufted Titmouses - on group of 5 came from a tree in the back yard and one group of 3 came from the front. The two groups ran each other off!

I only learned recently that birds don't migrate because it is getting cold. They can handle extreme temperatures but they migrate because of food sources.

In attracting birds to the back porch, I am also attracting cats that like to perch and watch for lunch. I am constantly running the neighborhood cats away.

Beautiful. I will show these to Sharon soon. She always looks forward to the colder months as we feed the birds year round too! only miss the hummers the most.

Are you still getting hummers? They are still very active for now at my house but I know from the past, they usually leave in October
