"Out West" Trip Part 3 August 2008

Next day took us off road for some construction detours but the roadside scenery was worth it.

Crossing Montana through the Crow Indian Reservation we stopped in the tiny town of Lame Deer, then rode on to Hardin, Montana to the the area where Custers Last Stand took place. There is a monument and a soldiers grave yard for the U.S. Calvary against the Sioux Indians in 1876. We also got a picture of Custers grave and some Indian's graves.

Along the way....

The boxes are bee boxes - Looks like something we should do here. We need the bees for
crop pollination and there don't seem to be enough of them in our area.

And look at this long, straight fence.

This interesting bed/car was parked beside the resturant where we had lunch. We went from
Harding, Montana and into Billings. Billings is the largest town we have seen the whole time we
have been here. A visit to the Harley Shop was a must.

We often saw train tracks - sometimes they were way out in the valley.

Beautiful farms, valleys with rivers were along side the road when all of a sudden, we had out first glimpse
of snow covered mountains. It was about 85 degrees where we were at the time.

I think I only saw two or three llamas on the whole trip but we were still seeing lots of deer and antelope in the fields.

We joked about this day being "Pig Out" day cause we ate alot. It was mid morning and we stopped at the Dew Drop Inn in Absarokee, Montana for an ice cream. There was this balloon man on top of the building waving all around but while I
was eating my ice cream, he bent all the way over to look inside and see what we were doing. It was soooo funny.

Then it was already time for lunch so we stopped in Roscoe, Montana and had a wonderful
lunch at the Grizzly Bar. This place has a great reputation. We had been asking about a
place to eat and several people said it was worth the drive all the way out to it. Lucky for
us it was on our route.
