It is with deep regret and sadness that I pass along to you that our friend, Harley enthusiast, and fellow Hog Member Gene Lummus has passed on. Please pray for Brenda and the family as they go through these next few weeks.


Monday, March 1st, at 11am there will be a memorial service for Gene at the Swannanoa First Baptist Church.

It was Gene’s personal request that we escort him as he makes this final journey. We will stage bikes at the old Food Lion in Black Mountain from 8:45am to 9:15am with Kick stands up at 9:25am. We will then proceed to the funeral home where we as a chapter will follow Gene as we go by Parkway one last time, then on to the church for the service. There will be more information to follow including addresses and a time line but wanted to get this out to each of you so you can make plans.

I know it will be cold, I know that it is a work day, I know Monday will be the biggest day of the chapters history, let us come together as a chapter and give Gene his last request.

The following maps show the way to get to the old Food Lion.

There has been a change in time. We will now be Staging at the Food Lion from 8:30am to 9am with kick stands up by 9:10am.

If you can not make that time, then proceed to the church. (map below) We will be pulling into the church parking by 10am with services to start at 11am. By 2pm we will be escorting Gene to Green Hills. Pam Mehaffey will be getting set up with coffee but I would still bring a pack of crackers or something to snack on. The family has asked we wear a Gene Lummus shirt or tee, if not then a Parkway shirt or tee.

We should be wearing our vests as we ride with pride. If you can make this please let me know by e-mail or phone. If you could, call other chapter members this evening to be sure they are aware of and know the plans for Monday. It is possible that we have some members that are not able to get e-mail on the week end. So please reach out and I hope to see most of you Monday.
