I don't often have time to take pictures in the back yard but there is always much activity out there. I saw the red head of a woodpecker in one of the pecan trees so I grabbed the camera and quietly went out the door. As I chose a position behind the garage and started snapping pictures, there was movement in another tree beside me. There were 3 different species of woodpeckers out there at the same time.  I am using a digital camera but zooming up too much loses quality. I think they still are pretty good shots...

It is interesting that the red bellied woodpeckers do NOT have a red belly. It seems like these should be red headed woodpeckers but the red headed woodpecker has a full red head all the way to the top of the wings

Wow!  Look how many there are!!  It is funny how they do when we come out to feed them, isn't it. Has she tried standing close just after she feeds them. She may could even hold some in her hand for them to eat. Have your camera ready!!

It is funny how they fluff their feathers up and look real fat. It helps keep them warm. Birds don't migrate because they can't tolerate the cold, they can adapt. They migrate for food unless we keep them stocked. Looks like ya'll do your part.

Beautiful little Eastern Bluebird

The other bird was down at the lake as I came home today and I haven't looked up the kind. I think a crane or heron
